School Programs : Raptor Road Trips
Raptor road trips: We bring live birds of prey to your classroom.
From November through March, when our gardens are closed to the public, The Arboretum at Flagstaff offers Raptor Road Trips for schools throughout northern Arizona. School programs are grade specific and include the biology and natural history of the birds.
Programs on the “History of Falconry” and “Owls Only” are also available for middle school and above.
Days available: Monday – Thursday
Maximum participants: 30 children per class. Our staff and volunteers can visit multiple classrooms in each school, depending on their schedules.
Cost: $90 for the first class of 30; $60 for each additional class, plus the following transportation fee:
- In Flagstaff: Thanks to a generous donation from the Arizona Community Foundation, Flagstaff-area Title I schools are only required to pay $20.
- Outside Flagstaff: $75 for schools up to 50 miles outside Flagstaff. This area extends north to Cameron, south to Camp Verde, west to Ashfork, and east to Winslow
To register: Call (928) 774-1442, ext.110.
Live Birds of Prey Programs are included in the admission fee. They take place every day at 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
