"BUGS AT WORK" Exhibit at The Arboretum
View diverse mounted and live arthropods on display this April and May. FLAGSTAFF, March 18, 2005. From April 1 to May 31, Arboretum visitors can view a special exhibit in the Horticulture Center at The Arboretum. "Bugs at Work" features insects, spiders and other creatures that help with pollination, soil development, and pest control in the gardens and greenhouse. See a huge variety of mounted and live insects on loan from the Colorado Plateau Museum of Arthropod Biodiversity at NAU. Hands-on activities are available daily for all visitors. On Arbor Day, April 30, there will be a special Live Bug Zoo from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. where visitors can handle a variety of live arthropods with the supervision of an entomologist. The Arboretum is a botanical garden, research center, and nature preserve dedicated to educating the public about the plants and plant communities of the Colorado Plateau. It is located four miles south of Route 66 on scenic Woody Mountain Road in West Flagstaff. The Arboretum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., April 1 to October 31.
