Guided tours of the facility are the best way to experience The Arboretum for first-time visitors. 

When to Visit

The Arboretum at Flagstaff experiences the four seasons in all the colors of nature's spectrum.  Here are some of the plants and activities you can expect to enjoy through the year:

Spring - Early native woodland plants; flowering spring bulbs; June plant sale.

Summer - Native plants in bloom; Water Conservation Garden; Herb Garden; Shade Garden; Butterfly Garden; Penstemon Festival.

Fall - Fall color -- aspens, maples, oaks and native grasses; Fall Open House.  Native grasses at their peak; decorative seed heads and fruits.

 

Take a Stroll

Visitors are free to explore the grounds on their own.  Several miles of pathways lead through gardens and natural areas.  Signs along the way explain the plants and animals of The Arboretum.

Visit the Gift Shop

Our gift shop includes a great selection of gardening and nature-themed gifts, t-shirts and books.  Rotating exhibits feature natural history themes and fine arts.
