SUMMARY:Ales with the Arb! Every 3rd Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:Planned speakers and topics (subject to change): \nBen Covington\, MOSS  WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? RESTORATION\nTopic: The increased frequency of high intensity wildfires is rapidly changing ecosystems in the western United States. This regime change calls for the development of additional tools for our toolbelt in restoring burnt ecosystems. It may come as a surprise that mosses\, unassuming as they appear\, contribute significantly to the post-fire environment. I hope to provide some insight into what makes mosses so effective in treating post-fire soils and what we are doing to try to assist their establishment for post-fire restoration.\n \nGreg with USGS will discuss using remote sensing to study active volcanoes and geothermal areas.
