An Arizona native, Sheila spent her formative years in the small town of Jerome where she developed a love of the outdoors and historic mining towns.  Jerome has served as her primary muse, offering landscapes, vistas and locals as subjects for her work.  Growing up with an architect father and artist mother living in a small community of artists naturally led her to explore the arts.  her love for the unique ghost town and its local characters inspired her latest concept series of Jerome Stairs.  “I just love how hauntingly beautifully every angle of Jerome an be, and there is a presence at all times, even when you are alone.”

Sheila currently lives and works in Flagstaff, which affords many opportunities to commune with nature.  With a degree in plant sciences, she also has a career as a botanist, and loves to “botanize” with anyone she brings or encounters on the trails in northern Arizona.  Sheila has published illustrations in Canotia: the Vascular Plants of Arizona Project, as well as commissioned work for The Arboretum at Flagstaff.  Her art is a result of combining all her passions, and she primarily works with mediums of pen and ink, charcoal and acrylic.
