The Arboretum Hours

2026 Season April 29th-Oct.25th

Wednesday – Sunday (Open)

Monday & Tuesday (Closed)

9 AM – 4 PM (last admission 3:15 pm)

Daily Naturalist Walk at 11am (subject to availability)

There is no restaurant on site. We have snacks and drinks in the visitor center. Please feel free to bring your own picnic!

Admission Prices

The Arboretum is a historic property in a natural setting. Our grounds consist of different grade changes, organic path surfaces and snug garden areas that may be challenging for wheelchair access. If you are visiting with a wheelchair, please ask at our Visitor Center for a map of accessible areas.

Please keep our four season climate in mind!

The spring can be chilly and windy, and the flowers are just waking up. We often have snow in May!

Our peak bloom season is July – September.

Fall color comes fast and furious in September or October, and we could have some snow in October.

Directions 

The Arboretum is located down 3 miles of a Forest Service Rd that is partially unpaved and that portion (app 1.7 mi) can be challenging during inclement weather and between road grading. We recommend that visitors have reliable all-weather transportation.

From I-40 Take exit 191 (I-40 BL)

  • Travel Rt. 66 East towards Flagstaff
  • Turn South onto S Woody Mountain Rd at the light
  • Follow Woody Mtn Rd (Forest Rd 231) for 3.7 miles

From Flagstaff:

  • Go West on Old Rt. 66 (I-40 BL) to Woody Mountain Rd.
  • Turn Left on Woody Mountain Rd. at the light
  • Follow Woody Mountain Rd (Forest Rd 231) 3.7 miles

     

    Alternate route from I-17 (mostly unpaved)

    • Take Purple Sage Trl / Forest Rd 532 from Hwy 89A near Ft. Tuthill 2 miles 
    • Turn left onto Woody Mtn. Rd. (Forest Rd 231) 1.7 miles
