As an organic gardener, I love this time of year, as everywhere I look I see the makings of compost! If you are new to composting, here are the basics to help get you started this November!

The Arboretum is very happy to share two new partnerships to grow plants for our National Forests.

I love this time of year, seeing all the Halloween decorations made up of squashes, gourds and jack-o’-lanterns. Botanically, it makes me think of the cucurbit or gourd plant family formally called the Cucurbitaceae.

There are several fall-blooming flowers that are bringing late season color to the Arboretum- and they are all yellow!

While it is certainly irresistible to plant throughout spring and summer, fall is an ideal time to get perennials in the ground for next year’s garden.
